Marshmallow chocolate bars no-bake is a traditional American recipe made from crushed graham crackers mixed with melted marshmallows and chocolate.

It is one of the easiest recipes in existence, requiring only three ingredients (3 if you don’t count water). It’s also one of the simplest desserts ever created. No one knows who first came up with it or when it was invented, but its history goes back almost as far as that of Graham Crackers themselves. Some claim that this simple yet fantastic treat originated at the 1939 World Fair. Those delicious melts bars became an instant favorite among many folks who visited the fair. When air conditioning became more common after WWII, Americans began to get creative with their homes by creating ice boxes filled with all sorts of treats, including Marshmallow Melts bars.

The recipe is so simple that most people do not need to use measurements when making it. The ingredients instead are given in tablespoons or cups, depending on the cook’s personal preference. Confirmed reports by “No-Bake” enthusiasts claim that marshmallow chocolate melts can be frozen into ice cream sandwiches with any type of creamy filling (vanilla ice cream is the most common). However, this is not for everyone as some folks would rather enjoy them chilled than frozen. Consequently, this recipe will feature instructions for those who prefer their melts bars chilled rather than frozen.

Ingredients

A glass of orange juice

1 cup of Graham Cracker crumbs (finely crushed)

½ cup of Sugar

½ cup of Butter or Margarine (melted)

2 cups Mini Marshmallows

8 ounces Semisweet Chocolate Chips (melted and divided into 3 bowls).

Supplies

9×9″ Baking Pan, buttered and floured; 1 Saucepan, Medium Size; Whisk or Electric Mixer; 2 Large Bowls, one for dry ingredients and the other for the melted butter/margarine/chocolate mixture. For preparation, help consult How to Prepare Form Pans for Cooking.

Preparing the Pan

(this may vary depending on the type of pan used). Butter and flour 9″ x 9″ baking pan; set aside. Prepare two large bowls for mixing dry ingredients and melted butter/marshmallow mixture. Spoon graham cracker crumbs into one bowl, sugar in another. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Preparing Your Melts Bars

Pour buttered and floured 9×9-inch baking pan on the stovetop. Mix graham crackers or cookies with sugar in a bowl. Combine melted butter/margarine with marshmallows in your saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture becomes glossy! Now pour this syrup onto your dry ingredients using whisk or mixer on low just until combined. Now pour your melted chocolate over this mixture and mix on low again just until combined. Mixing all three of these ingredients together allows the marshmallow to become one with graham crackers and chocolate, giving every bite a rich consistency.

Pouring Your Melts Bars

Pour mixture into a 9×9-inch baking pan and press down evenly using the back of a wooden spoon or spatula. Place the pan into the oven for approximately 10 minutes or until the sides of the melts begin to turn golden brown – do not overcook! Remove from the oven – let cool – cut as desired!
